[6:30pm] Pushing the Limits: Traditions
Description:
Join the discussion of Pushing the Limits of Tradition on Monday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Rockingham Library's top floor Meeting Room. Pushing the Limits is a four part program, which includes reading, viewing and discussion. It is funded by the National Science Foundation. This program brings together books and video featuring authors, scientists and everyday people who thrive on exploring science in everyday life. November’s topic of discussion, Pushing the Limits of Tradition, is well developed in Michael D’orso’s gripping and memorable nonfiction book “Eagle Blue: A Team, a Tribe, and a High School Basketball Season in Arctic Alaska.” It is also explored in video clips with the author and everyday people. Community discussion around science themes is the goal of this program. Retired marine biologist Peter Bergstrom will facilitate the discussion. A light meal will be provided. Space is limited and registration is encouraged. Pick up a copy of “Eagle Blue: A Team, a Tribe, and a High School Basketball Season in Arctic Alaska” by Michael D’Orso at the Library's front desk today! This event is free and open to the public. This national program has been developed by a team of library professionals, scientists, and filmmakers. Their organizations include Dartmouth College, the Association for Rural and Small Libraries, the Califa Group (a California-based library consortium), Dawson Media Group, and Oregon State University-- with generous funding from the National Science Foundation. To register or for more information, please go to rockinghamlibrary.org, call (802)463-4270, email programming@rockinghamlibrary.org or stop by the Library at 65 Westminster St., Bellows Falls, VT.
