10:00am [10:30am] Gathering Rocks
Mary B. Crowther will share from her new book: “Gathering Rocks: A Collection of Memories in Word and Image” along with samples from her extensive mineral collection. Crowther says, “I love the crystal formation of minerals imbedded within colorful matrices. Our family collected minerals from all over the US and other countries. It is still a habit of mine to collect these minerals.” “Gathering Rocks” was created for anyone interested in how the landscape reflects the geologic cycles of building up and erosion. It connects with Crowther’s passion for watercolor. Many of her paintings are included in the book along with some of her poems and stories. Copies of “Gathering Rocks” will be available for purchase.

12:00pm [12:00pm] Kids.Code
Have you ever been playing your favorite video game, and thought "I could make this so much better?" Youth between the ages of 9 to 14 can now sign up for the Rockingham Free Public Library’s Google CS First Game Design Club to experiment with those ideas and make their own cool computer video games. Kids will build a racing game, a maze game, a falling objects game, and more, then share them with friends and family to play. No computer science experience is necessary. CS First is a free program that increases student access and exposure to computer science (CS) education through programs at the Library. Club sessions will be held Saturdays from 12pm – 1pm in the Youth Department beginning on October 21 and ending on December 9. Spots in the club are limited and registration is required. For more information and to register, contact Sam at the Library at 802.463.4270, email youthservices@rockinghamlibrary.org, or stop by the Library at 65 Westminster St in Bellows Falls, VT.
