DESCRIPTION:The Feldenkrais Method® aims to retrain your habits of moving, feeling and thinking by guiding you through a series of slow “lessons” called Awareness Through Movement®, designed to encourage greater flexibility and coordination. Ever thought how your back pain may originate in your hips and pelvis?\nIn this free experiential workshop, Paris will offer a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson and a Sounder Sleep System mini-movement. The lessons will be done lying down or, if you prefer, they can be adapted to sitting in a chair. All are welcome!  This workshop is offered as a preview of two workshops this summer at Main Street Arts in Saxtons River June 27 & August 15 and the weekly Feldenkrais class, which will start in October at Main Street Arts.\nIn the Sounder Sleep System™ you are guided to meander in and out of sleep. Just as one learns reversible movement in a Feldenkrais class, here you are learning reversible sleep! As a result, a funny thing happens. Even though you’ve spent much of the day sleeping, you usually find that you sleep more deeply than ever during the nights following a retreat. It may seem paradoxical, but we’ve observed that we get our deepest, most revivifying sleep not when we’re dropping with exhaustion, but when we’re truly, deeply relaxed first.​ “The aim of the Feldenkrais Method is a person that is organized to move with minimum effort and maximum efficiency, not through muscular strength, but through increased consciousness of how movement works.” Moshe Feldenkrais\nWho is this for? Anyone who would like to improve their ease of movement in daily life or in advanced athletic endeavors. IF you have issues with insomnia or anxiety, The Sounder Sleep System is a gentle, easy to learn technique based on our understanding of the neurology of sleep.
