Vermont Workers’ Center’s Healthcare Is A Human Right
You may be aware that North Star Health recently announced that they will be closing the Rockingham Health Center as of Jan. 1, 2025, and that last month a consultant hired by the state recommended that two area hospitals—Grace Cottage and Springfield—close their inpatient units and “repurpose” them. The consultant’s report also recommends expanding—not reducing–access to community-based primary care as way a way to prevent avoidable emergency room visits.
On Oct. 29 from 6-7:30, the Vermont Workers’ Center’s Healthcare Is A Human Right campaign is hosting a community meeting at the Rockingham Free Public Library Meeting Room to bring folks together to share healthcare experiences, discuss these proposed cuts, & talk about what what we can do together to ensure access to primary care and support our local community hospitals. The Meeting Room is handicap accessible & we’ll have pizza & salad.
RSVPs are not necessary, but if you do plan to attend it’d be great to know so we can have a rough count for the pizza.
