Local author Eileen Charbonneau will celebrate the publication of her third World War II set Navajo Code Talker novel All of Me with a talk about her research for the series. Eileen will explore the history of Native American military service in the conflicts of the 20th century, with emphasis on the nations of the American Southwest. She’ll also talk about some largely unsung heroes like the World War II Navajo Code talkers who kept their secret from even their families until their secret code was declassified in 1968.
All of Me joins book 1 I’ll Be Seeing You and Book 2 Watch Over Me in Eileen’s series. It follows the 1940s travails of her fictional code talker Luke Kayenta and secret service operative Kitty Charente. The series has a personal component too, as some of the characters are based on Eileen’s family members of earlier generations.
Eileen Charbonneau lives in Bellows Falls and serves on the Friends of the Library Board and is a member of the Bellows Falls Woman’s Club. She’s the author of twenty published novels.
