The Sacred Run, the lotus and the feather documents the 1995 ceremonial run organized by American Indian Movement leader Dennis Banks. It began in Hokkaido and covered about 4,000 km (2,485 miles) along the Sea of Japan. Participants from North America and Japan, joined by volunteers from fourteen countries, carried the message “All Life Is Sacred” through cultural exchanges, ceremonies, and daily running events. The journey concluded in Hiroshima and  Nagasaki, marking the 50th anniversaries of the atomic bombings.
After the showing, filmmaker Andrea Sadler will speak of the life changing experience of following Indigenous runners across Japan as they carried a timeless message of peace, environmental stewardship, and the sacredness of all life.
